ThriveniEarth Movers receives appreciation plaque for commendable CSR work

Bhubaneswar,9th December 2012:Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt. Ltd. (TEMPL) was felicitated with an‘appreciation plaque’ for commendable work and exemplaryinnovation in CSR at the Business World FICCI CSR Award 2011-12. Theplaque was presented by Shri Sachin Pilot, Hon’ble Minister forCorporate Affairs (I/C), Government of India, to Lt Col (Retd) VikramMehta, GM CSR and Col (Retd) Sangram Mahapatra, Sr GM (ISD) of TEMPL,at a function held in Delhi on 7th December 2012. ShriR.V. Kanoria, President FICCI and Smt. Rajashree Birla, ChairpersonFICCI CSR and Community Development Committee were present on theoccasion. Thriveni’s CSR activities was assessed by independent assessment organizationsGrant Thornton, Birla Institute ofManagement Technology and an independent jury of eminentpersonalities from different walks of life. Shri M. Damodaranchaired the jury and Shri M. K.Venu,Dr. V. Mohini Giri,Shri Sunit Tandon and Shri PritpalMarjara were other members of the jury. Mr. B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director,TEMPL said, “The best way to promote inclusive growth is toempower the youth by imparting them with appropriate skills so thatthey can find gainful employment and build their careers. TEMPL iscommitted to inclusive growth and a key strategy in this is toenhance employability of the youth by providing training onvocational skills. TISA, established by TEMPL is a step in thisdirection. Conceivedby Shri B. Prabhakaran, TISA was established as a CSR project toimpart appropriate skills to the impoverished youth of the Keonjharregion, which is predominantly inhabited by tribal population. Theacademy is headed by a retired army officer with rank of ‘General’and 7 full time trainers are involved in the programme. In the firsttwo years, TISA has trained nearly 500 young men who have all foundgainful employment. AboutThriveni Industrial Security Academy (TISA) TISAstarted as an experiment targeting the uneducated and the unskilledtribal youth of the district of Keonjhar, Odisha for providing them aviable medium of livelihood. It is a unique project of its kindwherein, young men are given an opportunity to channelized theirenergy into nation building activities. Selectedyouth from the BPL category are provided with basic skill sets makingthem suitable for the burgeoning ‘Security and Disaster’management industries. The entire expense for training is borne bythe Company. In fact the selected students are paid a stipend ofRupees One thousand and five hundred (Rs 1,500/-) pm during theirtraining period. Theforty five day course is conducted by a dedicated set of trainers whoare all retired defence personnel. Each batch consists of upto 70students from BPL families belonging to the district of Keonjhar.Recruitment procedure is impartial and stringent. Selected candidatesmust possess minimum physical standards and have to undergo medicaltests. Theexhaustive syllabus includes Physical Training, Drill & Parade,Roles & Responsibilities of Security personnel, Quick ReactionDrill, Intervention Drill, Disaster management situations, Obstacletraining, First Aid, Firefighting drills, Importance of Health &Hygiene, Sports and other Extra – curricular activities.
